Eddie obtained his education at Harrison County, and he united with the Cedar Grove Methodist Church at an early age.

In November 1929, Eddie married Cliffie Rockwell. To this union seven children were born. Four girls – Dorothy, Vernell, Erma and Bennie. Three boys -Edward Lee, Hayward, and William (Joe). There are 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grand children and one great-great grand.

My father was known to many as “Buddy”, and to others as “Head.” But, if you knew and remembered him you would say he was one of all three with such a sense of humor.

Eddie was a great baseball player during his young adulthood years. He was a "pitcher", a Nolan Ryan type back in his days. He could have made Pro. He also was very good in math. He could do figures in his head quicker than you could on a calculator.

Eddie was a believer in "family values". He was a great provider for his family taking on various jobs -farmer, saw miller, Galveston Water Front and worked at Lone Star Steel Company until he retired in 1968.

My father touched many lives and was loved by his family and friends. He was a great father, grandfather, wonder husband, loving brother, and a kind friend to many. He was a people-person. But, most of all he loved his family. His sense of humor was "unspeakable". The sun set for him on February 9, 1986. His memories will always be embedded in our lives to treasure.
